Henry Vaughan Annual Memorial Event Sunday 24 April – 3.00pm

 

Memorial evensong service for Henry Vaughan including wreath laying at his grave.

Choir from St Mary’s Priory Church, Abergavenny. Speaker – Allan Wilcox, The Vaughan Association.

 

Service to be followed by refreshments and local launch of the new book on ‘Henry Vaughan and the Usk Valley’ co-edited by Robert Wilcher of The Vaughan Association and Elizabeth Siberry of the Brecknock Society and published by Logaston Press

Visit by Festival Touring Group  Sunday 29 May – 10.00 or 11.00 am

 

Festival Director Richard Parry and touring group visit Llansantffraed as they follow the route and honour the heritage that inspired poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge on his walk through Wales in 1794. 10.00am service; 11.00am talks and recitals of song, music, poetry in church; 12.00am ‘bring your own’ picnic in adjacent field. Admission free or even to perform !

 

 

‘Swan of the Usk’ Concert       Saturday 18 June – 7.30pm

 

A celebration of music, song and poetry in homage to Coleridge and Vaughan – performed by the Unicorn Singers, conductor Stephen Marshall with Hannah Medlam (soprano), James Bramley (lute and theorbo) and readings by The Vaughan Association. Organized by the Brecknock Society and the Unicorn Singers. Tickets, including refreshments, £10. These two events are advertised in the Coleridge in Wales programme.

 

 

Donations from those attending the April and May events and any profit from the June concert will go towards maintaining Llansantffraed Church.
